Almost ran the table last week. Picked 10 of 11 correctly - only the Georgia Bulldogs let me down. It was an easy week, though, with lots of "tune-up" games.
Now that we've got the prognosticating engine purring, let the predictions begin:
Tennessee 28, UCLA 24
LSU 31, Vanderbilt 21
Georgia 17, South Carolina 14
Florida 42, Troy 24
Alabama 42, Florida International 3 - My brother played baseball for the Golden Panthers back in the mid-80's, before FIU fielded a football team. With all that talent in the Sunshine State, there should be enough good players to go around. But FIU won't be able to hang with Alabama for long. Look for the freshmen to see plenty of action for the Tide.
Auburn 28, Mississippi State 17 - Just what Auburn fans wanted to see last week in the opener. A balance offensive attack. Lots of big plays. Two backs each going over the 100-yard mark. What to do for an encore? How about four touchdowns in the SEC opener, erasing memories of last year's 3-2 victory in Starkville.
I'll be on the plains Saturday morning with Paul Finebaum, on the lawn at Samford Hall for Tide and Tigers Today. It starts at 11 a.m. - would love to visit with you before or after the show, if you have time to stop by.
See you next week!
God bless - Jeff
